Pálava Wine Harvest

Town: Mikulov

8–10/09/2017

Autumn is wine harvest time – and time for celebration in South Moravia. We invite you to the lovely town of Mikulov, halfway between Brno and Vienna, right on the border with Austria, and right next door to the Lednice-Valtice world heritage site.

Each year in September the Pálava Wine Harvest brings thousands of visitors to taste Mikulov’s excellent wine, the local specialty “burčák” or new wine, and superb Moravian cuisine. A rich weekend program of entertainment and culture begins on Friday afternoon with rock concerts in the outdoor amphitheater below Turold Hill. The climax of Saturday’s program is the historical procession of King Wenceslas IV with his extensive retinue and royal trumpeters, passing through the town square to the grounds of the chateau, with a historical crafts fair, and medieval taverns and shops. You can taste the excellent local wine at the Wine Market in the chateau’s main all, or under the guidance of the cellar master by the giant barrel in the chateau cellar.
